Congregate Meals
.....Nutrition plays a major role in
the health & well being of older adults. It's
expensive to eat healthy and takes time to prepare
nutritionally balanced meals. Our Nutrition Program
for the Elderly can be the solution for both the cost
and time it takes to eat healthy. Sharing a meal with
friends and neighbor is an added bonus.
.....Lunch is served at 3 sites in Ritchie County.
Anyone 60 and older and their spouses are welcome.
Reservations are requested at least one day in advance.

Home-delivered
Meals Program
.....Home bound seniors residing in
Pennsboro, Harrisville, and Cairo may request a noon
meal be delivered Monday-Friday with frozen meals
available for weekends and holidays. To request home
delivered meals contact Cindy at 643-4941. All meals
are approved by a dietitian.
Non-Emergency
Medical Transportation
.....There are no age or income restrictions.
Children must be accompanied by an adult. There is
a sliding fee for this service.
Homemaker
Services
.....Assists older adults (60+) with
general cleaning, food, prep, and shopping.
Personal
Care Services
.....Personal Care Services are designed
to help persons who are at risk of being placed in
a nursing home to remain in their own home with assistance.
.....Trained workers provide assistance with bathing,
grooming, meal preparation, laundry, general housekeeping,
and shopping services.
Waiver
Services
.....The Aged/Disabled
Home and Community-Based Services Waiver (ADW) Program.
The program provides eligible individuals with a range
of services comparable to those services provided
in a nursing facility. Specifically, ADW program services
include assistance with personal hygiene, nutritional
services which include food preparation and feeding,
assistance with medication administration, and environmental
maintenance necessary for clients to remain in their
homes.
West

personal care services for clients who are on West
Virginia Workers Compensation. Their guidelines are
as follows:

is to educate the public about Medicare and other
health insurance issues and to provide accurate and
objective counseling, assistance, and advocacy relating
to Medicare, private health insurance, and related
health coverage plans for beneficiaries their representatives,
or persons soon to be eligible for Medicare.

gives a vairety of supportive assistance to seniors to
be able to remain in their communities and continue to
live in the comfort of their own homes.
Adult
Day Services
......The Adult
Day Services Program operates Monday - Friday: 8-4
.....A certified Program Assistant provides supervision
for older adults. .....The program offers a variety of activities
for participants, ranging from exercises to crafts.
.....Participants are provided with lunch and a snack
daily with breakfast provided upon request.
....Limited transportation available.
Public
Transportation
.....Affordable,
public transportation is available in Ritchie County
without age or income restrictions. Children must be
accompanied by an adult.
.....Our system is handicapped accessible with lift
vans that can accommodate wheelchairs. All drivers received
passenger assistance training.
.....We operate on a semi-fixed route with door to door
pickup. Transportation schedules are printed in both
local papers and may also be obtained from Family Services
by calling 643-4941.

ALZHEIMER'S RESPITE PROGRAM (FAIR) PROGRAM
.....This program is for
caregivers of individuals with Alzheimer's disease and
other dementias.
.....Family Alzheimer's
in-Home Respite (FAIR) can provide up to eight hours
per week of respite care for individuals with
dementia, giving caregivers time to grocery shop, get
a haircut, run errands, visit friends, or just take a
nap.
......Both FAIR and ADULT
DAY SERVICE PROGRAMS are based on a sliding fee scale,
depending on household income.
